Happy New Year 2018

Well 2018 certainly started off with a bang, kindly bringing us the Meltdown and Spectre CPU vulnerabilities. I wonder if these vulnerabilities would have gone undetected for quite so long if the hardware had of been open-source. Hmm.

Anyway, at least all you sysadmins out there will have something to do once you head back to work on Monday (if you're not there already), namely rolling out updates. City councils all over the North Island will be running around trying to clear debris from their coastal roads after the recent storm left them in tatters, while farmers will be rejoicing at signs of a break in the drought. Whatever is currently keeping you occupied, I hope it's fruitful and here's wishing you a productive 2018.
